About
Candace Shepherd, LCSW
I’m Candace Shepherd, a licensed clinical social worker. I provide psychotherapy for compulsive sexual behavior, insomnia, and sleep difficulties; coaching and consultation for people outside the states where I’m licensed; and training for clinicians and organizations.
My approach is direct. I don’t believe people benefit from vague reassurance, and I don’t believe anyone needs to have every answer about their past for their future to be better. I work from where you are, including circumstances that can’t change, and focus on what can.
Some of the most meaningful work I’ve done has involved helping people address behaviors they never imagined talking about openly. Throughout my career, I’ve worked with individuals experiencing a wide range of sexual behavior concerns, including those in correctional treatment settings. That experience reinforced two beliefs that continue to shape my practice today: there is very little I haven’t heard, and meaningful change is possible in far more situations than most people believe.
I work with adults from a wide range of backgrounds, including service members and veterans, people in recovery, and people across the spectrum of sexual identity and practice. This work does not begin from assumptions about your values, your relationships, or what you want your life to look like.
Everything I use in session is research-based. What you can expect from me is clarity, patience, and a plan.
